The director of the Venice Film Festival, Alberto Barbera, commented: “Thanks to this renewed partnership, we reached a significant trifold goal. First of which is to contribute to promoting Italian cinema abroad at a time when the market situation seems not too favorable for the commercial distribution of films (such as unreleased full-length films, documentaries, and restored classic films). This partnership also aims to foster intellectual and cultural growth of the audience, counteracting the limits imposed by economic difficulties related to the traditional distribution. Lastly, it hopes to let people know better and in a more articulated way the Venice International Film Festival which stands as the most important event in the midst of a panorama of other festivals”.
